The Founders Bursary Awards

Thirty five years ago three farsighted members of the United Kingdom Branch, Tim Weimer, Mike Leach and Fred Mason, established the BSAP Trust with the purpose of providing assistance and support to members and dependants of the United Kingdom Branch of the BSAP Regimental Association who are distressed by sickness or poverty.

Since its inception it has supported dozens of members and disbursed thousands of pounds in grants.

The Trustees have felt that some way should be found to mark the anniversary of the Trust and honour those who established it as well as providing assistance in ways other than grants.

To that end the Trustees have decided to create ‘The Founders Bursary Awards” and will set aside an annual amount of ten thousand pounds each year commencing 1st January 2023 to provide a bursary or bursaries to assist in the education or career advancement of those awarded.

Those eligible to apply will be UK Branch members or family member being spouse, child or grandchild and dependents of members.

Applications will be considered by a panel consisting of any one of the Trustees, the UK Branch President and the Patron of the Trust and awards made accordingly.

It is hoped that these awards will help not only to assist members and their families but help preserve the memory of the BSAP and show the benefit of membership of the Regimental Association.
